The new Shenzhen Book City opened in Longgang District on July 18, 2018. The Longgang store is the fifth Shenzhen Book City store under the Shenzhen Publication & Distribution Group, following the CBD store, the Luohu store, the Nanshan store and the Bao’an store. The new store boasts the city’s first unmanned bookstore. Customers can take the selected books to the exit and pay by a self-service machine. Various modes of payment including Alipay, WeChat and the book city’s smart card are accepted. In addition, robot assistants are introduced into the bookstore to help customers find the exact book they want.
